International Federation of
Business and Professional Women
Now, more than ever, we need every woman’s voice to ensure equality, safety and opportunities for women here and around the world. Welcome to Enterprising and Professional Women New York City’s (EPWNYC’s) website. I am Francesca Burack, President of this diverse group of women – corporate women, small business owners, entrepreneurs, health care professionals, lawyers and women across the professional spectrum including nonprofits. This diversity allows us the benefit of exploring ideas and obtaining input from a variety of thought-provoking women.
We are dedicated to equality for women and men in the workplace and in powerful decision-making positions in our society. We also advocate for women and families and strive to make this a better city and world.
We support the goals and mission of our organization and the individual goals of our membership. We focus on every aspect of a woman’s life, including career, financial, mind and body health. If you are looking for a community of women who are collegial, and share the values of integrity, responsibility, respect for others and ourselves you have come to the right place.
One of our main initiatives is the implementation of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs).
There are seven:
- Establish high-level corporate leadership for gender equality.
- Treat all women and men fairly at work – respect and support human rights and nondiscrimination.
- Ensure the health, safety and well-being of all women and men workers.
- Promote education, training and professional development for women.
- Implement enterprise development, supply chain and marketing practices that empower women.
- Promote equality through community initiatives and advocacy.
- Measure and publicly report on progress to achieve gender equality.
There is more information about the WEPs and their implementation under our Initiative tab, as well as in this Wall Street Journal article to the right with a blueprint of how to make equality a reality.
We hope you will join us at one of our upcoming meetings – see our calendar for upcoming events – and we invite you to join our organization. Download the membership form here. Membership in Enterprising and Professional Women-NYC, includes membership in EPW-NYS, EPW-USA, and BPW International. Explore our organization through the tabs on this site.
Come be a part of this dynamic, committed organization with connections to women in 100 countries. With you as a member, we can continue making our communities aware of women’s needs, advocate for long lasting solutions and take action to see that the solutions become realities.
